Not much in this article, but this little snippet really touched a nerve for me.

Starcraft 2 has consumed my free time for the last several days. Everything in this game so far has been excellent.

I had some issues in the beta running the game at max resolution with details fully blasted, but the retail version has no such issues so far (must have been the debugging stuff they must have packaged in the beta executable). What astonished me was how capitivating the single player campaign has been so far. The single player of most RTS's is usually not very engaging. Most of the missions can simply be solved by massing some units and then A-clicking your way to victory. This is much different. Almost al the missions have some creativity thrown your way, and a lot of them, if you try to take the turtle up and mass up approach you lose lose, particularly on the higher difficulty settings (I'm almost done with the single player campaign on hard). It has engrossed me so much that I have actually not played much of the multiplayer since launch day. The in-between scenes and running around the Hyperion make me very nostalgic of Wing Commander III and IV.

They're been a few mindfucks (Not to spoil too much, but Samir Duran's little relevation at the end of Brood War definitely has a major impact) in the storyline so far, but the story has been fleshed out very well. The experience in multiplayer has not changed much from the beta ... and I like it, though as I said before, I haven't had all that much time to really play in the leagues since my playtime has been eaten by my desire to complete the single player campaign.

Hopefully there will be great multiplayer madness in the coming weeks.

It seems recently that not a day goes by that I find yet another dissapointing and/or disturbing piece of information about the supposed Obama administration's attitude in regards to civil rights abuses of the previous administration.

It's a truly sad state of affairs. Despite my misgivings about Barrack Obama during the '08 elections, I did have some genuine hope (yes, I did just say that) that perhaps the civil rights abuses that were going on during the Bush years would be curtailed, even a tiny bit. As bad as he was going to be on economic policy, I could take a tiny comfort in thinking that he was being at least a little sincere about the strong statements he was making in criticizing the Bush administration's record in regards to civil liberties and the "war" on terror.

Alas, this was not to be, as Glenn Greenwald is continuing to point out. A look at his article archives points to a rather depressing list of broken promises, and shocking abuses. And we thought Bush was bad.

Well at least the liberal side is finally beginning to notice ...

I have cancelled my eharmony subscription. Unfortunately I didn't catch it in time for the previous billing cycle so I'm still stuck with it till August. But after that, fuck this fucking website, and fuck you Dr. Neil Clark Warren. I didn't care so much about all the money I pissed away but this shit hole website is just making me miserable and frustrated.

I don't know what I'm going to do now. But yeah being after more than a year of getting a grand total of 0 dates and scores of rejections, it's time to say fuck it and stop lining this fucking useless site's pockets.

My weight seems to be stabilizing around the low 160 mark. Been weighing in around 162-163 for the last couple days, I do tend to gorge myself a bit on the weekends, so that probably has something to do with it as well. Still there seems to be noticable progress. My sister has remarked on how it's noticable I've lost weight and given how she often berates my physical appearance I can score that as a moral victory.

Of course I was at the same situation last november when the incident occurred and combined with the horrible winter weather prevented me from doing any meaningful exercise for several months (I think I was in the mid 170s at my worst point). So I'll try to see if I can make sure that I can keep the weight off for good this time. The summer weather will definitely help with that.

My competitve level in the Starcraft 2 Beta has appeared to improved. I can't tell at the moment if it's due to the fact that I'm getting better or that I'm just playing against bad people. It's such a shame the beta will end on May 31st. Hopefully I won't suffer withdrawal (of course I actually haven't played much over the last couple days, so maybe it won't be so bad without it). Maybe I'll fire up Brood War again during the downtime.

We don't give medals to people for doing their jobs.

Not a truly amazing accomplishment since it was in the bronze leagues, and I also got sent into the silver leagues division, so I'm no longer #1.

At 165 at the beginning of this week. Progress is being made. Maybe 160 wasn't such an unreasonable goal after all. I didn't have to really change my eating habits all that much, so that is also encouraging.

Starcraft 2 Beta has been going well so far. I've mostly been sticking with the Terrans and winning a healthy portion of my games, albiet it's starting to get a little boring because I've been using the same strat each time (M+M+M). I've tried experimenting a little, but usually that doesn't go so well. I probably should start looking at Protoss again because I miss playing as them, especially terrorizing people with High Templars and Psi Storm.

Also more people I know are starting to get on the beta so I should look forward to some arrange 2v2 or 3v3 games.
